Hi All!
It’s no secret that a chef’s kitchen tools are extremely important, right? Well, here’s a kitchen “basic” we’re itching to talk about: silicone baking mats!
Seriously, we’re all about them—no need for parchment paper the next time you’re whipping up a batch of oatmeal raisin cookies. Forget about wax paper the next time you’re making pizza dough. Nothing will stick to these mats…talk about a timesaver in the kitchen!

Want to know other benefits to working with these mats? They’re:
- Easy to clean
- They can undergo high temperatures
- They’ll last a while!
So the next time you feel like making YUMIKO ETO’S GREEN TEA CHEESE COOKIES, try making them using a silicon baking mat…trust us, you’ll love it!

These baking mats are one of our favorite tools, but we want to know yours: Do you have a favorite kitchen tool? Let us know below!

I finally invested in a couple of them and they are fantastic! I found a silicone mat for the bottom of the oven - to catch the drippings. Talk about the best kitchen invention of the century! Simply wipe drippings off - done! (A miracle for a messy cook like myself!) -
I have used a silicone mat and I love them. Even cookies that tend to stick come off of these mats. I love the muffin pans and cake pans too. My favorite tool besides silicone is the flexible chopping mats. They are thin and take up no space when you aren't using them. I love to just lie them on my counter when I am cooking so when I grab up something to just slice real quick, I don't cut my counter. Clean up is really easy. They are very inexpensive so when they get cut up, I start out with a new one. Of course, the old one has other duties at my house so they never are wasted. -
I haven't tried silicone mats or cooking tools although I do look forward to trying them!
My favourite tool is, of course, the Stand Mixer!

Sorry, my favorite tool is a really good whisk, and the whisk attachment on my Kitchen Aid Mixer :) -

Love it Trudy, favorite kitchen tool this month! Isn't that the way we all are? I love how new things are always coming out to make our jobs easier in the kitchen. Reminds me of how Philly has made our job so much fun cooking these days. Our Moms never had it this good. A little cooking cream would have made their dinners soooooo much easier! Thanks Philadelphia Cream Cheese and all the Kraft family for helping women everywhere! -
The silicone mats are awesome! Gotta try em sometime! My favorite kitchen tool this month has been my mellow ball scoop. Fresh watermelon & cantalope are so sweet in bite size balls. -

Love those silicone mats. Congratulations YUMIKO ETO. Great recipe. I saw Paula Deen say that her favorite kitchen tool was her deep fryer...I couldn't do without my Kitchen Aid Stand mixer. -
I also use the silcone mats I have difficult with the silicone molds. My favorite kitchen toon is my Kitchen Aide

Another kitchen must have!
One particular tool? JUST ONE??? I would say one thing I use the most is a whisk. I probably use it more than almost anything else I have...outside of my knives. -
Yumiko......how great, green tea cookies! Congrats on the spotlight today. Parchment paper would have to be my favorite kitchen helper. I have a silicone mat in the cabinet but all I have to do with that parchment when done is toss it in the trash. Several years ago my son gifted me with a commercial box of 2000 sheets of parchment paper. I am in heaven with that stuff!! This summer during bible school parchment paper saved my life when I was making those 1000 cinnamon rolls on the huge 1/2 sheet baking pans! A little hint for cinnamon rolls on parchment however is.....spray the parchment with cooking spray cause the sugar and cinnamon want to make the rolls stick on the bottom. -
A few of my favorite cooking tools: nutmeg grinder, cherry pitter, microplane lemon zester, and my kitchen scissors. Merry Cooking just can't go on without these handy tools! -
Yumiko, your cookies look great, congratulations! I never used the silicone mats before, but I am anxious now to get one! I have to say, my favorite kitchen tool to use,is my little hand held pastry blender, love it! -
Love green tea and in a cookie no less! Different and looks beautiful. Congratulations on getting today's spotlight with this recipe!
I use silicone mats and both white and brown parchment papers to bake with. I grew up using wax paper for baked good to line the bottom of cake pan. Not anymore since it leave a taste of Crayola on my cakes. Now I use my roll of wax paper for wrapping sandwiches. My favorite kitchen tool is a rubber spatula! -
I agree, those cookies are calling my name right now :) My favorite kitchen tool is a metal spatula. It lifts cookies and cuts brownies, etc right out off the cookie sheet or pan. I'm sure that I should try those silicone products to make life a bit easier. But my spatula is also used to clean the bottom of my cast-iron skillet :) -
Those look quite tasty, Yomiko. I'll have to try those! ... I love my whisk. Just love a whisk. Not sure why, but I just love to use it. Also covet Paula's measuring cups and spoons. I must have a set of those someday. Donna, I would love an immersion blender. I hear they come in handy when making soaps. -
Yumiko, your cookies look wonderful!
I love kitchen gadgets! The more I have, the better. My favorite though, is my immersion blender. I can make soup out of just about anything! -
Yomiko, your photo is beautiful and the cookies look delicious. I've never owned a mat, but I do love parchment paper. I love how it works, looks, and call me crazy, how it sounds! I love white and unbleached tan parchment. I cook in a professional kitchen once a year at our church camp and they have huge sheets for full-size baking trays. We use it for everything - baking bacon, soft pretzels, cookies, cakes, etc.~~no sticking and the best part, easy clean up!
