Butterfingers!!! Also Popcorn Balls...my Daddy would make them every year to hand out for Halloween Treats. Made them with Karo Syrup, vanilla, M& M's , Nuts , and sometimes even crumbled up butterfingers ... They were delicious! He would always dress up and answer the door in a headless man costume that he made to the delight of the Trick or Treaters!! Wish he was still here to do that ...Missing some of Daddy's Popcorn Balls!!

I ALWAYS LIKED SNICKERS!! STILL DO!! SOMETIMES YOU FEEL LIKE A NUT, AND SOMETIMES YOU DON`T!! -
My favorite was candy corn, and popcorn balls..My mom wasn't a very good cook, so we never had a lot of sweets when I was old enough to trick or treat.AND OH THOSE POPCORN BALLS! They were magical...how did they get them to stick together in a ball,AND make them sweet!! The imagination of a child!!! Still love them to this day!!! -

I know this sounds stupid, but...could someone just briefly explain
in simple terms, how to enter this contest? Thanks. -

Most of the time I was growing up, we were really poor, so anything like an apple or a popcorn ball, or money, because I could never get enough to eat. I finally went to work when I turned ten years old, for five cents over minimum wage, a dollar an hour. I remember that with my first day's pay of $10, I bought a dozen eggs and a pound of bacon, a loaf of bread, a half gallon of milk, and a big jar of peanut butter and a jar of jam. That left me with $3.50 for fun. -

When I was growing up there were these wax, red lips you could place over your lips or chew. They tasted great, I loved them. They were not edible, you chewed like gum and discarded: and, they were only available during this time of year. -
OOPS! forgot to say what my favorite candy ....TOOTSIE ROLLS....I dug through the pile of candy to find tootsie rolls..... -
I am the second of seven children....between myself and my three other sisters we collected in the big brown grocery bags full of candy.....it was candy galore....after our excursion we would empty our booty onto the kitchen table just to marvel over our loot...I think my last Halloween nite out I was 24 years old....took my nieces and nephews out...fun times! -
My favorite candy was the Candy Necklaces, they were cool to think you had jewelry on and you could eat it too!!! I recently was in a store and seen them (not as tasty as I once had) but they sure brought back some very fun memories and I had to email my growing up girlfriends to tell them all about finding them again. What fun we had back then. Thank you for bringing up such great topics to bring back some great times and memories. -
I don't remember ever having a costume or going Trick or Treating
except once when in high school a bunch of us girls wore daddy's white shirts & jeans & walked around town. Did they even do it in the '40's? -
We did not have no halloween here because of the huracan Sandy, they posponed for tomorrow Saturday. -
Afraid I was before chocolate bars. Mostly Halloween meant dressing up in home made ghost or pirate costumes and the treats were homemade cookies and hard candies. One big house we visited had a huge tray of cookies just sitting on the front porch, we only took one each. Couldn't do that now. Great times. -

sugar babies were (and still are) my favorite candy to get trick-or-treating... good thing Halloween only comes once a year when you're eating that stuff :) this year being an exception... with all the power outtages in the North East from Hurricane Sandy, Halloween was postponed and/or rescheduled for the trick-or-treaters and depending on the neighborhood (and proximity to others), there have been kids dressed up and walking the streets every night since Wednesday! Tomorrow will be their last night to collect ;) -

I still have to have 3 muskateers bar at least once a week. I don't feel as guilty as it is not a sweet as the others. LOL at least I tell myself that. -
Congrats to Steelmom!!!
My favorite memories weren't of candy...trick-or-treating on my families ranch (5 houses in a row, all relatives) our treats were always home-baked goodies in a brown paper bag...the smell of fall in the air, the crunch of leaves underfoot=Wonderful Memories!! -
