
RWOP guys and gals,
I just love my Sassy Crab Pizza because it combines a couple of my favorites in this entire world: Crab meat and Cream Cheese.
So. About crab meat. If you live on a coast, you probably don't even know what the big deal is about getting fresh fish. You just automatically have it! And for that, I'm crazy jealous. But, if you are like me - a land locked mermaid - then finding good crab options is a bit challenging.
I have to say I have tried them all and I have definite opinions on each.
My #1 mack daddy choice if I am truly trying to be the hostess with the mostess, is the fresh, lump crab meat found in the seafood counter at my local grocery. It is not cheap but ho HO it is good! These babies are tender, juicy, tangy and downright delicious. So, save this one for a special occasion.
My #2 choice would be the canned crab meat. It is a little bit stringy but it still has that "real taste" you are looking for.
My third choice is only for when I am in a pinch...and that is the faux crab meat. Or should I say KRAB meat. Now, don't call me a crab snob but this is really a last resort. When in doubt just get the canned stuff or go 1/2 and 1/2 in a recipe and then you have the best of both worlds!
Do you ever have to substitute the real thing with the canned version? Do any of you out there actually prefer the #2 choice? Tell me all about it, cats and kittens!

YES! Been to Jerrys! Its a mrlt inyour mouth Craab MARYLAND STYLE EXPERIENCE.. CARYN YOU HAD ME FROM THE WORD CRAB! Liren.. MARYLANDGIRL...UHMM me TOO! Check my profile page and the heap of hardshells I had just steamed and we picked & scoffed down until my seams were scramin' on my jeans! LOL. The left over picking? Well Maryland Fresh Crab Vegetable soup..! How do I like my crab? MY FAV...Soft shells, sandwich slice of tomato and mayo and ofcourse old bay seasoning. Fresh crab prefered, I ll go pasteurized to.. but NEVER canned. Uggh. My crab cakes are killer good brely held together with any binder. Ya see. my "Mama" won 2nd place in MARLYANDS BEST CRABCAKE RECIPE in Baltimore. Uhhh..no. Thts a family secret recipe gals.. cant share not for love or money and no matter how sexyyy!!! ^-^ Oh eait..yumm on crab imperia, crab baklls. crab quiche and yes crab pizza~ ohhh. forgot crab dip - hot or cold works just fine..andalways,,always...always...always.. old bay seasoning. YUM---any crab is great. I mix the lump and snow together on many recipes to get a crab taste in every single bite!!! Have a great day...that pic is making me soooo hungry for crab!!!

I've never met a shellfish that I didn't like!!! I prefer the canned variety the least if I had to pick. Paula I agree the grilled crab sandwich sounds really yummy.
