Homemade Peanut Butter? Yes Please!

Hey Real Women of Philadelphia!

PB&J, ants on a log, peanut butter chocolate chip cookies...it feels like there are endless ways to enjoy this delicious spread! Whether you're baking with it or just eating it by the spoonful, peanut butter usually disappears quicker than we'd like it to from the kitchen cupboard!

But we have some good news ladies...you can now make peanut butter in the comfort of your own home! Check out our simple steps below to learn how:

  1. Take 2 cups of peanuts, spread them on a baking sheet, put them in a 350 degree oven, and bake them for 6-8 minutes (make sure to move and rotate them every few minutes).
  2. Take peanuts out of the oven and let them cool.
  3. Pour your peanuts into a food processor and add about 1 1/2 tablespoons oil (either peanut or vegetable oil).
  4. Chop peanuts in food processor for around 2-3 minutes, until the peanuts and oil have formed a ball.
  5. Scrape down the sides of your food processor and continue mixing and chopping until you've reached your desired consistency.
  6. Add a dash of salt if you'd like or just leave the peanut butter as is. Store in an air tight container, refrigerate and ENJOY!

Is it necessary to add the additional oil?

      Thanks you.

You know, now that I think about it, peanut butter off of a spoon is wonderful!

Saltines, celery or apple. I like banana, too, but sometimes don't feel too good on that. A rice cake is good, too.

Put it this way, I love, love, love peanut butter!

Oh my gosh, how easy is that? I can't wait to try making my own :-)

Though it is super cliche, I LOVE PB&J sandwiches... I have one packed in my lunch today! I also love to add peanut butter to some thai pasta dishes, smoothies, granola bars, the list could go on and on!

I love crunchy peanut butter and Kraft's Jet-Puffed Marshmallow Cream on buttered toast! I think that this has to be a food of the Gods. Now see what you have started... I am off to the kitchen to make one! LOL!

I am back and yes I have one in hand and a cold glass of milk!

I love a tablespoon in my smoothies, especially if I am whipping up some bananas. I love to top it on pancakes and waffles while they are still hot so it melts - better than syrup for me. I also like to make Thai sauces, add it to oatmeal cookies, to amke granola for a hike, as a dip for my apples. I just really love peanut butter!!
