Hi Again!
Can you believe it's almost Easter? Well neither can we!
One great way to get the whole family involved in decorating for Easter is (you guessed it) dyeing Easter eggs! Here are a few simple tips to keep in mind this year when you decorate those beautifully festive eggs:
- Make sure you protect your work space: Lay some old newspapers or old paper grocery bags down to keep things clean!
- For the perfect ready-to-decorate eggs, hard-boil your eggs first! Simply place about 1/2 dozen eggs into a medium saucepan, fill the pan up with cold water (just enough to cover the eggs), and heat on high until the water starts to boil. Remove from heat and let the eggs rest in the pan for 15 minutes. Drain, cool, refrigerate...and then decorate!
- Use tape or stickers to create fun designs on your eggs! Just stick them on securely before dipping the eggs in the dye and wait to remove themuntil the eggs have dried.
- Give your eggs a little sparkle by adding glitter to the mix: Brush your eggs with craft glue and then coat with glitter and set it up to try for a fun, glittery addition to your Easter baskets!

There are so many cool methods of dying eggs now. The latest craze seems to be dying eggs with natural ingredients, and I just love the colors.

I have only ever dyed eggs once. It was fun - I want to try using "natural" dyes instead of dye kits. and I have another fun project I will be working on with eggs - I hope! Going to experiment - if it turns out well - I will post a pic!

Last year we used this foiling kit. It made some pretty awesome looking eggs! We never thought to take pics of the eggs!! LOL

Nancy, I LOVE your chick idea, it is so cute!!
Isabel, I didn't know you could bake the raw eggs in their shells in the oven, that is so interesting! What beautiful photos on your blog!

I love these ideas! Decorating Easter eggs has always be a favorite tradition for my family growing up, and I hope to do some tomorrow with Ryan :-) Along with all of the great tips above, I also like to use a white crayon and draw pictures on the egg shell. This way when you dip the eggs in different dyes, the part with the crayon stays white. It is a fun way to make place holders for Easter dinner!

What child does not look forward to dying eggs for their Egg Hunt! What adult will not smile when they see all the colors and decorating attempts done by their child or grandchild. I beleive this is one of those rites of passage to adult hood and knowing what the word patience means! I am using this idea for decorating the table for the egg dying event:
