Happy Friday, Everyone!
We definitely went "back to basics" this week, and we loved hearing what YOU had to say about all of our cooking terms, tools, ingredients and techniques we shared!
Here are some standout comments from our star students over the last few days:
“I'm definitely a sweet & salty kind of gal. Think dark chocolate covered bacon or perhaps a glazed donut with bacon sprinkles...” – JENN TIDWELL
“I enjoy eggs anyway they are fixed! Eggs for breakfast, lunch or dinner - YUM!” – KRISTEN CLAYTON
“A few of my favorite cooking tools: nutmeg grinder, cherry pitter, microplane lemon zester, and my kitchen scissors.” – MERRY GRAHAM
Thank you to everyone who did their “homework” this week…make sure to meet us back here next week for another week of cooking school. Let’s just say, thing are about to get saucy!
Since we shared some of our favorite basics with this week, we’re itching to know:

I keep eggs, cream cheese and butter in my refrigerator, I always have some kind of pasta and canned tomatoes in my pantry. My freezer has ice cream and frozen biscuits. I like keeping things that I can quick fix if friends or family "show up" at my house around meal time. I love cooking from scratch but I don't always have notice that my house will be busy. Keeping a few things on hand for quick snacks or meals keeps me from stressing over food for the day ! -
I keep meat in the freezer, milk, butter, cream cheese and all other kinds of cheese in the refrigerator, and pasta, spices, spaghetti sauce and baking supplies in the pantry. I try to be well stocked at all times so when I take a notion to cook, bake or create...it's already there. :)
Congratulations to the Gold Star winners Mary, Kristen and Merry. Very nice. -

Spaghetti Sauce -- I use it over pasta, meatball subs, home-made pizza, over french fries (don't ask), in casseroles, and a variety of other uses.

Congratulations to the Cooking School Star Students, Jenn, Kristan and Merry! I stock up on everything as I hate grocery shopping! But special items in the freezer are phyllo shells and dough, frozen berries and a container for freezing ice cream if the urge hits me. In the refrigerator, tapenade, artisan pizza dough, tortillas for quick burritos, tacos and quesadillas and a bottle of white wine. In the pantry, almond flour, sugar, white chocolate chips and lots of spices.Basically I have enough to feed the house for a couple of weeks! -
